I’ve been talking about it for over 2 years. I’ve wanted to start training for a long time and felt that with my insane travel schedule, I would never get time to commit. Since I was assigned to a 2 month project where I could work from Dallas, I decided to take the leap. After a solid month of training, I can honestly say that I love it so far. It’s still very early in the journey, but I hope that I’ve found a new hobby that I will stick to for years to come.

I’ve started a blog to discuss BJJ news and my personal experiences with my new training. Expect to see many more posts on the new site, www.BJJTecnica.com .

Can Bonuses Force Finishes in MMA?:

This is a great article from Lee Whitehead at MMAWeekly.com about paying bonuses to fighters who finish an opponent in an MMA bout. I’m a huge fan of MMA and I’ve said this before so it’s nice to have other folks say it too. Some people think MMA is boring because they just lay on each other and let the fight go to a judges decision. Maybe if the fighters got paid more to finish fights, they would risk it more? Most MMA fighters don’t get paid very much per fight ($6k to $25k) and a bonus to these guys would mean a ton. Probably enough for them to stick their neck out there more which would make for a more exciting fight.

I'm Hooked on Juicing

For about 3 months I’ve discovered the joys of juicing fruits and vegetables. I’ve always heard of these mysterious contraptions but just recently became educated enough about them to purchase a juicer and start exploring.

I’ve found a few recipes on the web and have created some of my own. I’ve noticed that it is common for me to juice fruits and veggies as a complete breakfast replacement. One example of a breakfast drink I love includes carrots, celery, cucumber, kale, spinach, and an apple. This drink gives me a ton of natural vitamins and nutrients that I would normally not receive in my normal everyday diet. Another great use is to get fresh apple or orange juices. There is nothing quite as refreshing as a freshly juiced cold glass of orange juice.

The biggest downside is the cost of buying fresh fruits and vegetables. It takes a decent amount of fresh produce to get enough juice to replace a meal. I recently cut out most meat products from my diet so I didn’t feel the cost much, but it is definitely not as cheap as buying packaged/processed foods.

After 3 months of juicing, I think this one will become a life change. I feel better and like the option of a refreshing drink instead of hot foods.

Lil Wayne was quoted saying that he never plans to stop touring and one day hopes to take residence in Las Vegas.

Can you imagine? It’s a new era of Vegas music. I guess if you think about the youth of today becoming the gray-haired slot machine pullers of tomorrow, this makes perfect sense.

Jessi and I went to The Improv to see Charlie Murphy. You may know him as a funny character from The Dave Chappelle Show. He’s also Eddie Murphy’s brother.

I would highly recommend attending his show. He’s funny and not dirty like most comedians. Good times.

I’ve never been one to spend lots of money on bedding. Yes, I like my bed to be clean and cozy but I had never spent the money for a set of soft sheets. I’ve heard of people spending hundreds on sheets and I always thought that was just stupid.

Recently, I had to start looking for some new sheets and decided to take the plunge with a “nice” set of sheets. I asked a bunch of people on what kinds of sheets I should buy and everybody had their own opinions. Flannel? Egyptian Cotton? Sateen? I had no clue what to pick. After a couple of trips to some stores to test some fabrics, I decided on Rayon made from Bamboo. I decided to use Overstock.com and I saved about $75. I’d recommend these sheets to anybody.
